Swindon Town Women is excited to announce the addition of Jonny House to its coaching staff as the new Assistant Manager working alongside Richard Wood.
At 28 years old, House brings a wealth of experience from various roles in women’s football, particularly in coaching and managerial positions at Bath University and Warminster Town Ladies within the local football community.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, House stated, “I am absolutely thrilled to be here. From the moment I first spoke to Richard, it was evident that we shared a similar vision on how to propel Swindon Town Women forward to achieve success both on and off the pitch.”
House commended the club and its support for the women’s section, acknowledging the talented individuals at Swindon Town Women and expressing eagerness to learn from them. He emphasized his commitment to contributing his knowledge to the squad and fostering player development on and off the field. His primary responsibility will be to support Richard, the coaching staff, and players in various capacities.
In reflecting on the appointment, Richard Wood, the manager of Swindon Town Women, expressed his delight, stating, “I am delighted to bring in Jonny House to support myself and our coaching team and players.” Wood highlighted House’s alignment with the club’s values, emphasizing his experience in women’s football, both in nurturing young talent and managing senior players.
Wood praised House’s quick integration with the team and anticipated working collaboratively to enhance the coaching environment. The appointment comes as part of the club’s ongoing efforts to improve and move forward with its exciting project.
Jonny House assumes the role following Richard Wood’s promotion to the manager’s position after the departure of the previous manager, Mike Cook, in September. Cook moved on to a role in the men’s game with National League North side Gloucester City.
Commenting on the appointment, Head of Football, Jamie Russell, commended House’s passion and enthusiasm for coaching and women’s football, expressing anticipation for him to apply his extensive knowledge to the Swindon Town Women’s team.
Overall, the addition of Jonny House to the coaching staff signifies a strategic move for Swindon Town Women as they continue to strengthen their position and strive for success in women’s football.
