Despite the anticipation of a hard-fought battle, the impact of injuries adds an element of unpredictability to the scenario. Both teams have players nursing various ailments as reflected in the final injury report for Broncos-Texans.
The Broncos list cornerback Damarri Mathis as questionable due to a back issue, introducing an element of uncertainty to his availability. On the positive side, outside linebacker Baron Browning and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, both instrumental players, are expected to be on the field. Kicker Wil Lutz, tight end Chris Manhertz, wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr., and defensive tackle Mike Purcell are also contending with injuries but are marked as “Full Go” or resting for non-injury reasons.
While Browning and Jeudy’s presence on Sunday is reassuring, Mathis’s questionable status raises concerns, especially against a Texans team boasting potent wide receivers. Mathis’ struggles this season have led to a demotion, providing an opportunity for Fabian Moreau to step into the starting role.
The uncertainty surrounding Mathis might prompt the Broncos to involve rookie third-rounder Riley Moss more prominently in the defensive scheme, aligning with the team’s recent efforts to integrate the promising Iowa Hawkeye product into the mix.
