The 35-year-old star sends a clear message as he responds to speculations amid his Vikings future and NFL carrier…

Injured quarterback Kirk Cousins has affirmed that he will return to the NFL next season, dispelling initial doubts after suffering an Achilles rupture on October 29 against the Green Bay Packers.

While speaking with the media on November 17, Cousins expressed excitement about penning the next chapter of his career in 2024, emphasizing a positive outlook on his comeback.

Despite his determination to resume play, the question lingers about whether Cousins will return to the Minnesota Vikings or potentially join another organization. The quarterback, who has consistently voiced his desire to conclude his career in Minnesota, attempted to secure a multiyear extension with the Vikings during the offseason.

Cousins, acknowledging the uncertainties surrounding his future with the team, conveyed his willingness to postpone contract discussions until after the current season concludes in the spring.

He stressed the team’s focus on the ongoing season, particularly as the Vikings, led by replacement quarterback Josh Dobbs, stand at 6-4 with favorable playoff prospects.

While Cousins’ return to Minnesota remains uncertain, recent reports suggest a softened stance from both parties regarding his potential return in 2024. The quarterback’s injury may make him more amenable to a one-year contract in his age-36 season, signaling a potential shift in negotiations.

Cousins expressed a deep-rooted desire to retire as a Viking, emphasizing his longstanding commitment to the team. Despite an unspecified “discount” offered to the organization over the summer for a multiyear deal, negotiations did not materialize, and Cousins currently plays on a one-year contract, earning $35 million in 2023.

The evolving dynamics between Cousins, head coach Kevin O’Connell, and the Vikings organization suggest a potential return for the quarterback in the 2024 season.
