Winger Kamaldeen Sulemana expressed his delight at being part of Saints and working under manager Russell Martin. Despite summer transfer rumors, Kamaldeen stayed with the club after the departure of Nathan Tella to Bayer Leverkusen.
In an interview, Kamaldeen praised Martin’s new philosophy, stating it aligns well with his style, bringing added enjoyment to his Saints career. He highlighted the manager’s emphasis on risk-taking, courage, and possession-based play, noting that it suits his profile.
After recovering from an early-season injury, Kamaldeen secured a spot in the starting lineup under Martin, featuring in seven of the team’s eight games during an unbeaten run. Reflecting on previous managers, he acknowledged having fun under different styles of play.
While expressing satisfaction with his two goals against Liverpool, Kamaldeen wished they had come earlier in the competition. Despite those being his only goals for Saints, he remains confident and is eager to score his first goal of the season.
Acknowledging three assists, including two in his first start against Leeds United, Kamaldeen humorously claimed he should have around 10 assists by now. He emphasized the importance of his teammates getting into the box for more scoring opportunities.
Off the pitch, Kamaldeen, described as “very smart” by Martin, continues to seek improvement. Although recently called up to the Ghanaian national team, he opted to focus on improving his club form before committing to international duties.
Close friends with West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen, who shares a background with Kudus from the Right to Dream academy, keeps a keen eye on English football. He watches almost every game, finding enjoyment in both playing and learning from fellow players through observation.
