Southampton Should Push for Amad Diallo Deal Amid Sunderland’s Renewed Interest
Southampton, currently in the midst of an impressive eight-match unbeaten streak, should prioritize signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo in the upcoming January transfer window. This pursuit takes on added significance following Patrick Roberts’ decision to extend his contract with Sunderland.
After enduring a difficult spell in September, Southampton have rediscovered their form, securing victories in six of their last eight matches, including impressive 3-1 wins over Leeds United and Birmingham City. Despite this resurgence, they still find themselves nine points adrift of the automatic promotion spots, highlighting the need for further reinforcements.
Diallo’s loan spell at Sunderland last season proved his immense potential, as he contributed a remarkable 14 goals and three assists in 39 appearances, playing a pivotal role in their playoff qualification. His return would undoubtedly be welcomed with open arms by the Sunderland faithful, especially given Ross Stewart’s summer departure to Southampton.
While Sunderland remain keen on Diallo’s return, Wolverhampton Wanderers have also reportedly expressed interest in the Manchester United youngster.
