Deshaun Watson’s attempt to make a comeback in Week 7 didn’t go well, and now he’s openly acknowledging his mistake. The Cleveland Browns quarterback has given a candid assessment of his decision to return too soon, admitting that he rushed back to play against the Indianapolis Colts instead of waiting another week.
Watson stated, “I told the team I was ready for the Indianapolis game, but in hindsight, I wasn’t. I made that call, and it didn’t work out. I tried to push things too quickly, and it didn’t go as planned. Ultimately, I’ve learned the importance of listening to the experts and their advice.”
Watson had been dealing with a shoulder injury, and he aggravated it early in the game. He left the field in the first quarter and missed the subsequent game against Seattle.
The decision to play Watson, leading to another injury, forced him to combat a negative narrative. His availability for Week 9 remains uncertain, but he is hopeful about returning to face the Arizona Cardinals
