Carlos Corberan has expressed his admiration for Coventry City manager Mark Robins, who has been in charge of the Sky Blues for nearly seven years, and the West Bromwich Albion boss has acknowledged his aspiration to replicate such a tenure at The Hawthorns.
Corberan, the Spaniard, mentioned that while he typically doesn’t look too far into the future, he believes that if he remains at West Brom for a similar duration as Mark Robins has at Coventry, they can achieve remarkable success.
Mark Robins assumed the role of Coventry’s manager in 2017 and has guided the club to two promotions. He came close to securing a third promotion last season but fell short in the playoff final.
Speaking to the Express and Star ahead of an upcoming match on October 30, Corberan stated, “My mindset doesn’t operate on that level. Making long-term plans is a challenge for me because I invest a lot of intensity in each and every game. That’s the way I prefer to be.”
He added, “It would be fantastic news if I were with this club for that length of time. It would mean that I have achieved remarkable things here, and that is my ultimate goal. But right now, my focus is solely on Coventry, and then the next match, so I don’t have the luxury of thinking too far ahead.”
Corberan celebrated his one-year anniversary as the West Brom manager last week and paid tribute to the behind-the-scenes staff. However, his primary goal is to achieve more successful years at The Hawthorns.
West Bromwich Albion supporters are hopeful that Corberan will remain in charge for as long as Mark Robins has at Coventry. His unwavering commitment and belief in the club have garnered the trust of many Albion fans, especially when he resisted the opportunity to move to Leeds United during the summer.
The immediate focus is on the Coventry match and securing three valuable points in the Championship. After that, the duration of his tenure at The Hawthorns remains uncertain.
