Hull City manager Liam Rosenior believed that his team fully deserved their 1-0 victory over Preston North End on Saturday. Jaden Philogene’s goal in the second half secured all three points for the Tigers at the MKM Stadium, extending Preston’s winless streak to seven games and pushing them down to eighth place in the Championship table.
Preston had an appeal for a penalty, which went against them at 0-0, and Rosenior acknowledged their case. However, he argued that Alan Browne’s appeal for another penalty in the first half was rightly dismissed. He also expressed his frustration with what he perceived as time-wasting by Preston during the match.
When asked about Preston’s penalty claims, Rosenior responded, “I know there was one, I can’t think of any others. That one in the first half was not a penalty, nowhere near. We can discuss referees, and it’s a difficult job being a manager. We were the superior team, and I believe we ended up with the correct result.”
Rosenior expressed frustration for the first time because he felt that Preston was intentionally slowing down the game from the very beginning. He believed that his team wanted to play football, and he felt that they ultimately got the right result. Despite Preston continually putting balls into their box, Rosenior was confident that his team looked solid and was unlikely to concede. He made minimal changes to the team, except for bringing in Cyrus to shore up the defense, as he trusted the quality of Robbie Brady.
