Ongoing speculation surrounds the position of Gareth Ainsworth as the manager of QPR. Despite the team’s current poor form, the 50-year-old continues to hold his position.
QPR has collected a mere eight points from their first 13 matches of the season, resulting in a 22nd place in the Championship table.
Louis Moir, the QPR fan pundit for FLW, has expressed his criticism of the club’s decision to retain Ainsworth for this extended period. He believes that Ainsworth should have been relieved of his duties at the conclusion of the previous season.
Moir stated, “The situation with Ainsworth has deteriorated since my last discussion about him. Many fans had low expectations for our recent games, but our performances, such as the loss to Huddersfield and West Brom, have left us disappointed. It has reached a point where this is arguably the worst I’ve witnessed QPR in my lifetime, and even older generations of fans are echoing the same sentiment, which is quite telling.”
He further expressed his frustration, “I’m at a loss for words regarding why he remains in his position. The quality of football we play is unacceptable. His inability to utilize players like Ilias Chair is a mistake. Our position in the league table is a clear indicator of our problems. If things don’t improve, we are merely postponing the inevitable. I don’t understand how he wasn’t dismissed after the Blackburn game.
If it were up to me, I would have let him go at the end of the previous season. It was clear that it wasn’t going to work, and it’s only deteriorating. The statistics are appalling, with a high number of goals conceded and an inability to score goals. If Ainsworth isn’t removed, we are headed for relegation. It’s a disgrace, and I’m left speechless at this point.”
QPR is positioned at the bottom of the Championship table, and it appears inevitable that they will face defeat against Leicester given the vast difference in their current forms. The team has crucial fixtures ahead, including a match against Rotherham United, and fans are growing increasingly vocal about the need for a change in management due to the dismal performances under Ainsworth this season.
