Hull City’s boss Liam Rosenior discusses his selection conundrum ahead of the red-hot Preston North End’s clash…

Hull City is gearing up for a crucial home match against Preston North End, and head coach Liam Rosenior faces a challenging decision regarding his starting lineup. He must determine whether to make changes or stick with the lineup that performed admirably in the recent match against Birmingham City.

During the game at St. Andrew’s, Rosenior made three alterations to the squad that suffered a last-minute defeat to Southampton the previous Saturday. These changes included the return of Lewie Coyle in place of Cyrus Christie, Sean McLoughlin replacing Ruben Vinagre, and Adama Traore taking the place of Jason Lokilo.

These changes proved to be effective, as Hull City secured a convincing 2-0 victory in the West Midlands, marking their first win since their away victory at Stoke City.

However, achieving home wins has been a challenge for Hull City in the early part of the season, in contrast to their strong away performances. Their only home victory came against Sheffield Wednesday, with four draws and a loss to Southampton following. Therefore, Rosenior continues to experiment with different lineup variations in an effort to find the winning formula at the MKM Stadium.

In the previous match, Rosenior deployed Scott Twine in the number 10 position and used two natural wingers, Jaden Philogene and Jason Lokilo. However, the defensive coverage provided by Ruben Vinagre posed challenges, particularly against a physical and athletic Preston North End side. This aspect is likely to be a key area of focus for Rosenior in his lineup decisions.

Ozan Tufan is expected to remain on the bench as he awaits his return to the starting lineup. Jean Michael Seri and Tyler Morton delivered outstanding performances in the midweek match, despite the demands of a third game in a week, and Rosenior is unlikely to rest his key player.

Predicted Hull City Starting XI: Allsop, Greaves, McLoughlin, Jones, Coyle, Seri, Morton, Philogene, Twine, Lokilo, Delap.
