Alan Shearer heaps praise on talented Nottingham Forest forward as he explained why he has named him in his Premier League Team of the Week…

Nottingham Forest’s forward, Chris Wood, received praise from Alan Shearer for his performance over the weekend and secured a spot in Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.

Chris Wood made headlines when he left Newcastle United, a club cherished by Alan Shearer, during the January transfer window to join Nottingham Forest. Following an initial loan arrangement, the 31-year-old signed a permanent contract for £15 million in the summer.

Wood has shown good form whenever he’s been called upon this season, returning from an injury in improved physical condition and adding three goals to his tally for Forest.

Wood’s notable performance for Forest came during the weekend when he scored two goals. His first goal showcased an impressive finish after a one-on-one situation, while the second goal was a classic header.

Alan Shearer expressed his admiration for Forest’s star, Chris Wood, and commented on his performance by stating, “He led the line effectively with two goals, and came close to securing a hat trick. This is the type of performance that Forest will require from their forward.”

Chris Wood’s presence in the Forest lineup has been a result of an injury that sidelined Taiwo Awoniyi for a month. As Awoniyi is on the path to recovery, Wood’s strong showing as a striker provided a well-timed boost for the New Zealand international.

While it is expected that Taiwo Awoniyi will regain his spot in the team once he is fully fit, Chris Wood still holds an important role to play for Nottingham Forest this season. He will serve as the secondary choice to lead the forward line, and his primary objective is to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Despite being on the losing side on Saturday, Chris Wood came close to achieving a hat-trick and will undoubtedly draw confidence from his performance.
