Stoke City’s center-back, Luke McNally, believes that the team has demonstrated its ability to contend with stronger opponents in the Championship, as evidenced by their 2-1 victory over Sunderland. This victory, overseen by manager Alex Neil, provided the Potters with a three-point buffer from the relegation zone. However, they are fully aware of the challenge they face when hosting Leeds United, who recently climbed to third place in the Championship after a remarkable comeback win against Norwich City.
McNally has urged Stoke City to display the same determination and hard work in their upcoming match against Daniel Farke’s squad. The Burnley loanee expressed confidence that if they replicate the performance from their win over Sunderland, they will have a chance to succeed against Leeds United.
Speaking to StokeCityfc.com, McNally stated, “In the first half, we played quite well, and securing three points was a relief. Now, we need to maintain that level of play and replicate it in the next match. Ultimately, it was our hard work, with a touch of luck perhaps, that helped us secure the victory, especially as the ball didn’t fall their way towards the end.”
He emphasized that when a team puts in such dedicated effort, it increases their chances in any match. McNally observed glimpses of quality during the game, particularly in the second half, where they showcased their determination as a fighting team. He stressed the need to consistently exhibit this fighting spirit.
